Catapult Case Study

Analysis of a 25-1 Fractional Factorial Design This case study demonstrates the analysis of a 25-1 fractional factorial design.

This case study is a Dataplot analysis of the catapult data discussed in the analysis section. The analysis section analyzed the data using the JMP software.

This case study will complement the material in the analysis chapter by showing some additional graphical and analytical techniques for analyzing fractional factorial experiments. Although different software packages may provide somewhat different tools and techniques for analyzing data from designed experiments, the fundamental goals are the same. That is, we want to identify the important factors, determine best settings for these factors, and find a good prediction equation using the important factors.

Contents The case study is divided into the following sections:
  1. Background and data
  2. Main effects
  3. Interaction effects
  4. Estimate main and interaction effects
  5. Model selection criterion
  6. Best settings
  7. Conclusions and next step
