| When there are multiple responses, it is often impossible to simultaneously optimize each one - trade-offs must be made | In the multiple response case,
finding process operating conditions that simultaneously maximize (or minimize,
as desired) all the responses is quite difficult, and often, impossible.
Almost inevitably, the process engineer must make some trade-offs in order
to find process operating conditions that are satisfactory for most (and
hopefully all) the responses. In this sub-section, we examine some effective
ways to make these trade-offs.
