| If a response is a (linear)
function of a single predictor, then the equation y= bo
+ b1x1 describes its behavior. The term
bo
is the value of the response when the input factor
x1
is 0 and b1 is the rate of change of the response with
unit change in the input.
For the multifactor case the equation expands to become: y = bo + b1x1 + b2X2 + b12XIX2 . ..... This equation describes a plane (for two variables, a hyperplane for > 2 variables) rather than a straight line. |
